Join CSO Advocacy Campaign

Invitation to Civil Society Organisations to Join Advocacy Campaign in Trinidad and Tobago

The challenges presented by the legal, fiscal and funding framework for civil society organisations (CSOs) in Trinidad and Tobago has been a hot topic at T&T NGO Professional events and other local sector-wide meetings.

Following a series of informal discussions amongst CSOs, a draft briefing note [available at] has been developed by an interim coordinating group to explain the rationale for and nature of the changes that are being proposed.

On 23 March 2016, the briefing note was presented to and discussed by a group of potential advocacy champions, including an Independent Senator, representatives of leading private sector associations and CSOs with experience of leading policy and legislative advocacy campaigns.  Participants were supportive of the campaign and it was decided that a critical next step would be to engage/re-engage with as many CSOs as possible that are interested in supporting this campaign.

The coordinating group will therefore be facilitating an open meeting for interested CSOs at  5 pm on Monday 6th June 2016.   The venue will be the Conference Room at the Citizen Security Programme office at 63A Mucurapo Road, St. James.  If you are interested in attending please reply to by 1st June as space is limited (a second meeting will be held if we cannot accommodate everyone).
