Strategies to Fund & Pay NGO Staff Competitive Salaries

Are your organisation’s salaries competitive with the salaries paid by government and private sector?

Nearly 80% and 93% of Trinidad & Tobago NGOs attending the 2016 T&T NGO Professionals Seminar: Strategic HR for NGOs reported that their organisation’s salaries are NOT competitive with government and private sector salaries respectively.

Session #4 at the 2016 Seminar –Busting the Myth that NGOs Can’t Fund and Pay their Staff Competitive Salaries – explored strategies that organisations can use to move toward a stable, high-performing, well-paid staff.  Building on the story of the Caribbean Natural Resources Institute (CANARI), the facilitators highlighted key strategies that have allowed CANARI to pay its staff competitive salaries and benefits.  Participants then reflected on their organisational strengths and weaknesses in each of these areas and identified what needs to change.
